Awaiting Post-Mortem Results

(IROQUOIS FALLS) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigation into the sudden death at the Monteith Correctional Complex is continuing. On Monday March 16, 2009, a post-mortem was conducted on Barry Vincent MANION at the Laurentian Hospital in Sudbury.

At this time, no foul play is suspected however, Investigators are waiting for the complete results of the post-mortem which will not be available to the OPP for a number of weeks.

The body of the inmate was located in his cell by Monteith Correctional Complex staff on the morning of Friday, March 13, 2009.

The investigation is being conducted under the direction of Detective Inspector Guy Faucher, OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

THEFT OF SNOWMACHINE FROM TRAIL

(Iron Bridge, ON.) –On March 14, 2009 around 8:30 p.m. two southern Ontario men were snowmobiling on Trail “D” in the Iron Bridge area. After stopping for a break on the trail one of the snow machines would not start again. The disabled snow machine was left at the scene with the intention of retrieving it in the morning.

On 15 March, 2009 the two returned to the trail where the disabled snow machine was left only to find that it had been stolen.

LAPTOP TAKEN DURING BREAK AND ENTER

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating a break, enter and theft incident in Elliot Lake.

Police learned that the victim left his apartment at 149 Mississauga Avenue sometime on the 12th of March 2009 at approximately 6:00 p.m. Upon his return on the 16th of March 2009 noted his door ajar. Upon entering the apartment discovered that a laptop was missing. When further searching the victim discovered a small amount of change was also missing.

The laptop is described at a HP Pavillion notebook, black in color and very new.
