DRIVER CHARGED WITH CARELESS DRIVING

(Thessalon, ON.) – On Monday June 6, 2011 at approximately 1:30 p.m. East Algoma OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 just west of Thessalon, Ontario.

A westbound car crossed the centerline into the path of an eastbound tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer took evasive action driving onto the eastbound shoulder and the car made contact with the wheels of the trailer.

The male driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the motor vehicle collision. The male driver of the car was transported to Thessalon Hospital with minor injuries. The male passenger of the car was not injured in the collision.

The driver of the car, Steven Moore (49) of Thessalon, Ontario was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The tractor trailer was driven from the scene. The car was towed from the scene.
