MALE CHARGED WITH 13 OFFENCES

(Batchewana First Nation, ON) On Saturday the 27th July 2008 at 6:15 p.m. a member of the Batchewana Police Service, O.P.P. Canine Unit and Sault Ste. Marie O.P.P. Detachment members attended a weapons call at a residence in the 2000 block of Mission Road on the Batchewana First Nation Territory.

It is alleged that Ian Tyler AGAWA (27 years) of 2246 Mission Road on the Batchewana First Nation Territory attended a residence carrying a loaded 308 Remington rifle threatening to shoot a female resident. Three shots were fired into the bush area behind the home.

An altercation then occurred between AGAWA and another resident of the home.

It is alleged that AGAWA left the home and returned a short while later to the driveway area with a 30-30 Winchester lever action rifle in his possession.

A second altercation occurred between AGAWA and four other people.

At approximately 11:05 p.m. AGAWA was arrested without incident outside of his residence.

Ian Tyler AGAWA is charged with the following offences:

6 counts of Careless Storage of a Firearm

One count of Assault

Two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

One count of Pointing a Firearm

Two counts of Carrying a weapon for a Purpose Dangerous to the Public Peace

One count of Uttering Threats

AGAWA appeared in Bail Court yesterday and was remanded to appear in Bail court on Wednesday, 30th July 2008 at 10:00 a.m.

LOST PADDLEBOAT

(LAIRD TWP., ON) A paddleboat went missing within the past few days that was tied to a dock on Finn’s Bay Road in Laird Township.

FOUND BIKE


(HODGINS TWP., ON) A 21 speed mountain bike was found in the ditch area of Highway 556 at Sylvan Valley Road.

WOOD TAKEN

(Fisher Twp., ON) Two cords of wood were stolen from a cottage residence on Highway 563 in Fisher Township over the weekend.

PICK UP TRUCK COLLIDES WITH DEER

(Fisher Twp., ON) OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 in Fisher Township between a pick up truck and deer yesterday morning at 10:55 a.m.

There was minor damage to the vehicle, no injuries to the driver but the deer did not survive.

TWO VEHICLE COLLISION RESULTS IN CHARGE LAID

(Aweres Twp., ON) A two vehicle collision occurred on Highway 17 in Aweres Township yesterday morning at 9:30 a.m.

A Dodge Dakota pick up truck was attempting to make a left hand turn into Shetland Trailer Park when it was impacted from behind by a Pontiac Grand Am.

The rear of the pick up truck sustained minor damage and the front driver’s side of the car received substantial damage.

There were no injuries to either driver or the infant passenger of the car who was secured properly.

Charged with Following too Close under the Highway Traffic in 23 year old Jennifer Marie HANUSCHAK of Island Road in Goulias River, Ontario .

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On July 27, 2008 at approximately 5:08 p.m., while on general patrol an officer noticed a female standing close to a dumpster in the parking lot of a local mall.

The officer stopped and spoke with the suspect. Investigating revealed that the accused was in possession of a controlled substance.

Charged with Possession Schedule 1 – Other Drugs is Deborah JORDAN (54) of Elliot Lake. JORDAN is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 2, 2008.

ALWAYS LOCK YOUR VEHICLE!

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police are currently investigating thefts from parked vehicles in the area of MacFarlane Rd, Milliken Road and McKeown Road. Investigation revealed that during the late evening of July 28, 2008 and early morning of July 29th, 2008 unknown persons entered unlocked vehicles and took several items.

Some items taken were golf shoes, a satellite radio and a ladies watch.

Investigation continuing.

UPDATE – MISSSING BOATER- SPANISH

(Spanish, Ontario) Thomas HALE age 45 of Brampton Ontario was located deceased by the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit on Monday afternoon.

HALE was the third of three persons whose boat had capsized in the stormy waters of Lake Huron on Saturday evening.

Police and civilians in the area worked together to help locate the missing persons.

The investigation is continuing.
