(Macdonald Township, Ont.) Ontario Provincial Police investigated a two vehicle collision on Highway 638B near Maple Leaf Road yesterday at 2:15 pm.
Both vehicles were eastbound when a truck pulled out to pass a car in front of it. The vehicle in the front proceeded to turn to the left and the collision occurred.
The collision is still under investigation. There were no injuries to either driver. The car had to be towed.

ERRATIC DRIVING LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGES

(Desbarats, Ontario) On Friday February 22, 2008 at approximately 3:00 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP received a complaint of an erratic driver on Highway 17 near Bruce Mines, Ontario.

The motor vehicle was observed and stopped in Desbarats, Ontario.

The driver, Mario Gaudenzi (37) of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with “Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 mgs”, Section 253(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Gaudenzi was released on a Promise to Appear in Thessalon court on April 24, 2008.

TWO MALES ARRESTED IN STOLEN VEHICLE

On Sunday February 24, 2008 at approximately 7:45 am an officer from the Superior East Detachment in Wawa stopped a vehicle that was northbound on Hwy. 17 approximately 20 kms. north of Wawa. Investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Sault Ste. Marie earlier in the morning. Two males were subsequently taken into custody.

As a result of further investigation, a 20 year old male from Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with Possession Of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of Break and Enter Instruments and two counts under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act. An 18 year old, also from Sault Ste. Marie, has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.

Both males will appear in Wawa Criminal Court on April 7, 2008.

High Flyer gets Wings Clipped

(Wawa, Ontario) On the afternoon of February 25th 2008, Superior East OPP were advised by 2 motorists that a silver Lexus was flying down Highway 17 from White River towards Wawa.
OPP from Wawa set up radar just north of town. The suspect vehicle came through radar registering 141 km per hour.
The car was stopped and the driver, 36 year old Yasutoshi SAWANO of Tokyo Japan was charged with Stunt Driving, his Driver’s licence was suspended automatically for 7 days and issued a summons to attend Wawa Court. The minimum fine for this offence is $2000.00 and a further licence suspension.
The passenger from Toronto, was the owner of the Lexus. He watched as his vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days.
They will continue their trip to Toronto on a Greyhound bus.
