(Hawk Junction, Ontario) – On February 10th, a snowmobile was taken from the backyard of a Hawk Junction resident and driven around town for the day when the owner was away.

He took it for a ride over Hawk Lake and onto the trail where he collided with a tree.

The 1997 Ski Doo received considerable damage and the driver received non-life-threatening injures. The passenger was not injured. Charged with Take Motor Vehicle without Consent, Careless Driving and Fail to Report Accident is 40-year-old Gregory Lamothe of Hawk Junction. He will appear in Wawa Court on April 11 to answer to the charges.

A Very Busy Monday

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) - On Monday, February 14, 2005 the OPP received a call reporting a vehicle abandoned on a snow machine trail north of Elliot Lake. While officers were on route another call was received regarding two suspects apprehended by a retired police officer for stealing a snow machine. Both calls generated from the same area.

Investigation revealed that the suspects had attended a lodge area and taken four plastic five-gallon gas cans containing gasoline.
A camp had been broken into and several items taken. Items taken were shotgun shells, 410 shotgun, a flashlight, several household items and a snowmobile. All items have been recovered.

Charged is John Edward AUBREY (19) of Sudbury. AUBREY is charged with the following:

- theft under $5,000 (X2)
- unauthorized possession of firearm
- break and enter
AUBREY is scheduled to appear in court on April 5th, 2005.

Also charged is Eric Rene MARCHAND (18) of Sudbury. MARCHAND is charged with the following:

- break and enter
- theft under $5,000 (X2)
- possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (X2)
- unauthorized possession of firearm
- breach of probation (X2)
- fail to comply with undertaking or recongnizance (X4)

Also charged is Michel Roger ROSS (21) of Sudbury. ROSS is charged with the following:

- break and enter
- theft Under $5,000 (X2)
- possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 (X2)
- unauthorized possession of firearm
- utter threat to cause death or bodily harm
- breach of probation

MARCHAND and ROSS remain in custody awaiting a Bail Hearing.

Break and Enter and Theft

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) - On Monday evening police attended a residence on Blackwell Road to investigate a Break and Enter.
The owner of the residence was away from the residence for approximately 4 hrs and upon their return notice the back door pushed in and the door frame broken.

Items missing at the time of the report were a black jewelry box and jewellery. Investigation continuing.

Update

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) - Police have arrested and charged one male and added more charged to another regarding complaints received from two local establishments on February 12, 2005.
Charged is John LAFONTAINE (53) of Elliot Lake. LAFONTAINE is charged with the following:

- assault (X4)
- utter threat to cause death or bodily harm
Also charged is Adam LAFONTAINE (25) of Sudbury.

LAFONTAINE is charged with the following:
- assault
- breach of probation

Both are scheduled to appear in court on March 8th, 2005.
