THREE OFFICES VICTIM OF BREAK ENTER AND THEFT

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating a break enter and theft at the Lester B Pearson Civic Centre on Highway 108 in Elliot Lake.

Police learned that sometime between 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 and 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2011 unknown person(s) entered three offices located on the third floor.

Investigation revealed that unknown subject(s) entered one office removing an undisclosed amount of money and an assortment of keys. The subject(s) then attended two more offices where entry was gained and money was taken.

VAN WINDOW SMASHED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On April 2, 2011 at approximately 2:41 p.m. police were called to attend a residence on Laprairie Crescent regarding a broken window.

On scene police learned that sometime between 11:00 p.m. on April 1, 2011 and 4:00 a.m. on April 2, 2011, unknown person(s) smashed a window of a van parked in a driveway of a residence. The window was broken with an object.

Police are currently investigating all leads.

IMPAIRED DRIVER
(CHAPLEAU, ON.) – On April 1, 2011 at 5:10 pm Superior East OPP in Chapleau received information from the public regarding a possible impaired driver operating a motor vehicle in the Chapleau area. As a result of a description of the vehicle and driver, officers located the vehicle at the junction of Highway 101 and 129. Investigation revealed the driver showed signs of impairment and as a result of subsequent breath tests 67 year old Gordon KILLINS of MARATHON, Ontario stands charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle as well as Exceed 80 Milligrams blood alcohol content contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He will appear in Chapleau Criminal Court on May 4, 2011.

TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN DRUG CHARGES
(WHITE RIVER, ON.) – On April 3, 2011 at 1:30 pm Superior East OPP in White River were patrolling on Highway 17, Vasiloff Township. A northbound vehicle was stopped for a speeding infraction. Subsequent investigation by the officers revealed a quantity of marihuana between the seats of the vehicle. A consent search of the vehicle resulted in a further amount of marihuana, contraband cigarettes and Tylenol 3 with no prescription being located.
As a result 54 year old Ermile SAVOIE of CAP-PAELE, New Brunswick stands charged with;
(1) Possession of Cannabis Marihuana over 30 grams
(2) Possession of Cannabis Resin over 1 gram

Also charged is 35 year old Kevin LOSIER of TABUSINTAC, New Brunswick;
(1) Possession Cannabis Marihuana over 30 grams
(2) Possession of Cannabis Resin over 1 gram
(3) Possession of other Schedule 1 drugs

Both men were charged and released and will appear in Wawa Criminal Court on July 11, 2011 to answer to the charges. Highway Traffic and Liquor Licence Act charges were also laid in this incident.
