HWY 17 North of Sault Ste. Marie Closed

Montreal River, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP are closing Hwy 17 north of Sault Ste Marie between Batchawana and Wawa.

A snowplow has been involved in a collision with a pick up truck and several transports have lost traction in the snow on Mica Bay Hill and have blocked the highway in both directions.

Initial reports from that area indicate that blowing snow has reduced visibility to zero. Hwy 17 will remain closed in that area until the trucks can be removed from the hill and road, weather, driving and visibility conditions are assessed. Further updates on this road closure will be issued as they become available.
