One person is in custody after an assault between a man and a woman in their home overnight.

Last night at about 9:00 p.m. officers attended a home in Echo Bay after receiving a call of an assault at the home. It appears that a verbal argument escalated to pushing and shoving.

As a result of this investigation a thirty five (35) year old Echo Bay man has been taken into custody for assault. The victim did not require medical attention.

WE’RE IN THIS TOGETHER

Sault Ste Marie, Ont.,

The Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment and the Ministry of Transportation have team up to help promote highway safety on area highways.

In an effort to promote highway safety, the Ministry of Transportation has allowed Sault Ste Marie OPP to use two of their electronic message signs. Early this morning crews from the Ministry of Transportation delivered the two signs to the Sault Ste Marie OPP office. The signs have been positioned so that they face in both directions on Great Northern Road

For the duration of our two week Provincial Spring Seatbelt Campaign, the signs will carry messages and reminders to travelers about seatbelt use. Injury prevention and the preservation of life is the paramount goal of highway safety. The proper use of seatbelts and child car seats is the easiest way to prevent unnecessary injuries and loss of life.

The Ministry of Transportation and the Ontario Provincial Police have teamed up to offer you as many reminders as possible to buckle up. Now it’s up to you. Buckle up or pay up—and it may just be with your life.
