Two Incidents Reported to Police

(Vankoughnet Twp., ON) - OPP received a call from a local business in the Goulais River area regarding a bank note believed to be a counterfeit $100 American bill.

On Monday, 17 October, 2011 at 7:45 pm two males entered the local business. One male had a scar on his right cheek. The male purchased a small amount of food and paid with the $100 bill.

Investigation verified that the money was counterfeit.

(Batchewana First Nation, ON) On the 18th October, 2011 a lone male attended at the bingo hall on the Batchewana First Nation and attempted to exchange a $20 bill at the canteen.

The canteen worker identified the money as counterfeit and the male took back the money and quickly left the area.

Here are some tips if you suspect that a bill is counterfeit; Touch the bill, tilt the bill, look through the bill and look at the appearance of each security feature carefully.

Notify the police of an attempt to pass a suspected counterfeit note.
