UPDATE, YOUTH ARRESTED IN CHAPLEAU

(Chapleau, Ontario): On the 31st October 2007, the Superior East OPP investigation revealed a 16 year old youth was responsible for the theft of weapons stolen from a Cherry Street address in Chapleau on Saturday night. OPP Emergency Response Team and 2 OPP Canine Units assisted Superior East OPP with the arrest. A portion of Cherry Street was blocked off while Police surrounded a building where the suspect was hiding out.
On the 1st November 2007 at 12:30 A.M., the suspect was taken into custody without incident. The 22 calibre rifle was recovered. The youth will be held in custody awaiting a Bail Hearing in Timmins to answer to numerous criminal charges.

Superior East OPP Arrest 2 in Stolen Car


(Wawa, Ontario): On Wednesday 31st 2007at 1:35PM, Davidson’s Esso in Wawa reported the theft of gas and the vehicle took-off Northbound on Highway 17.

Superior East OPP officers on patrol observed the 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass heading North at a high rate of speed. A short time later, Police found 2 males walking on the shoulder of the highway and located the car hidden on a bush road.

Further investigation revealed the car had been reported stolen from St. Catherines, Ontario.

As a result, 19 year old Donald HILTS of Calgary Alberta and 19 year old Paul DUGAS of St. Catherines Ontario are charged with Possession of Stolen Property, Theft Under $5000.00 and Breach of Probation.

The 2 accused are being held in custody and will appear in Sault Ste Marie Bail Court on November 1st.

DANGEROUS GAME!!!!

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The morning of Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 police received a complaint regarding a dangerous activity occurring at local bus stop.

Investigation revealed a male student was lighting a spray can, which caused flames to shoot out of the can. Fearful for the safety of other students at the bus stop the East Algoma OPP was contacted.

The youth was located and cautioned regarding the dangers of lighting an aerosol can.

THIEVES STEAL FROM FIVE VEHICLES

(Batchewana First Nation, Ont.) The Batchewana First Nation police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the thefts from five vehicles.

Sometime between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning thieves made their way around Gran Street and Nebenaigoching Street on the Batchewana First Nation. The thieves found some vehicles unlocked and other vehicles they had to force their way into the vehicles.

A list of missing debit cards, electronic equipment, cash and other items have been recorded by the police.
