How Do I Know What To Do During An Emergency?

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) During an emergency situation, communicating timely information is vital. The community emergency operations center (EOC) will be activated. An Emergency Information Officer is designated to provide emergency information through the media for the public. Residents, businesses and vacationers can find out about an emergency situation through:

• Local TV Stations
If there is power, stay tuned to your local TV station for details about the emergency and any instructions from community and provincial officials.

• Door to Door Canvassing (usually by police and/or fire personnel)
If an emergency official comes to your door with a request to evacuate, remember your personal safety and the safety of your family is the most important concern. Gather your things, take your pets and leave the premises immediately. Follow the instructions given to you.
