(Spanish, Ontario) On Wednesday May 21, 2008 the East Algoma Blind River OPP were contacted regarding a break and enter to a residence located on Spanish Street, Spanish, Ontario.

The break and enter occurred sometime between September 7, 2007 – April 23, 2008.

Suspects stole approximately $20 in change and cigarettes.

WEAPONS CHARGES LAID

(Bruce Mines, Ontario) On Monday May 19, 2008 at approximately 9:30 p.m. the East Algoma Thessalon OPP were dispatched to an occurrence where it is alleged that a firearm was pointed at a person.

Michael Louis Leger (48) of Plummer Additional Township, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Section 264.1(1) (a) (X3)
Point Firearm, Section 87 (X2)
Unauthorized Possession of Firearm, Section 91(1) (X2) and
Careless use of Firearm, Section 86(1)

Leger attended Sault Ste. Marie Bail Court on Tuesday May 20, 2008. He remains in Jail and has been scheduled for 1st Appearance Court on June 12, 2008 in Thessalon Court.

BREACH LEADS TO ADDITIONAL CHARGE

(Thessalon First Nation, Ontario) On Wednesday May 22, 2008 at approximately 2:10 p.m. a member of the East Algoma Thessalon OPP Detachment located a person on Thessalon First Nation, breaching his conditions.

Robert Stuart CORBIERE (41) of Thessalon First Nation, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code with Breach of Conditional Sentence Order, Section 742.6.

CORBIERE is scheduled to appear in Sault Ste. Marie Bail court today.

MORE COUNTERFEIT $5.00 BILLS IN ECHO BAY

(MacDonald Twp., Ont.) OPP were called in investigate an allegation of 3 more counterfeit Canadian $5.00 bills turning up at a local restaurant in Echo Bay yesterday afternoon.

This is the fourth time in a week this has occurred in the Echo Bay are. All incidents are currently being investigated.

MALE CHARGED AFTER ALTERCATION

(Blind River, Ont.) On May 15, 2008 at approximately 1:05 p.m. officers of the East Algoma OPP were called to attend Tim Hortons in Blind River regarding a possible assault.

Investigation revealed that the victim had been driving his bicycle in the area when the suspect became upset with the victim and allegedly pushed the victim.

Charged with Assault is Norman MacMILLAN (55) of Blind River. MacMILLAN is scheduled to appear in Blind River court on July 3, 2008.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE COMPLAINT NETS DRIVER SEVERAL CHARGES

(Blind River, Ont.) May 17th, 2008 at approximately 3:45 a.m. police responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in the area of Woodward Avenue in Blind River.

Police located the vehicle and later charged the driver.

Charged with Impaired and Over 80 is Shayne Andrew ST JULES (42) of Blind River. ST JULES is scheduled to appear in Blind River court August 7th, 2008.

ARMED ROBBERY

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The Ontario Provincial Police is requesting the public assistance in solving an armed robbery which occurred on Sunday May 18th, 2008 at approximately 11:40p.m in the City of Elliot Lake.

A taxi cab driver had attended the Light House church located on Mississauga Ave to pick-up a fare. The taxi cab driver observed a lone male standing in the parking lot area. The suspect approached the vehicle and got into the front passenger seat of the taxi.

Once inside the taxi the male suspect displayed a weapon and demanded money.. The taxi cab driver complied with the demand and suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as;
- a white male,
- 20-22 years,
- 6 feet,
- 140-150lbs
- wearing black pants and a grey hoody

Investigation continuing.

YOUTH CHARGED AFTER ALTERCATION

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) May 16th, 2008 the East Algoma OPP were advised that a youth from a local high school had been threatened.

On scene police learned that the victim had been outside between both schools when he was allegedly assaulted and threatened by the accused.

Police arrested and charged a 17-year-old male youth with the following:

Assault with a Weapon
Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 8th, 2008. The name of the accused will not be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

FAIL TO REMAIN COLLISION

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police are requesting the assistance regarding a possible fail to remain collision.

On May 14th, 2008 at approximately 5:30 a.m. the victim parked her 2001 Dodge Caravan in a parking lot belonging to the Algo Centre Mall. The vehicle was parked directly in front of MOOSE FM facing Ontario Avenue. At 10:00 a.m. the owner of the vehicle found significant damage to the rear hatch door and the rear bumper.

TAKING THE ATV WITHOUT PERMISSION NOT A GOOD IDEA….

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police investigated the theft of an ATV. On Sunday, May 18, 2008 at approximately 7:00 a.m. while the owner was preparing to load the alleged vehicle onto the back of his truck, a male jumped onto the vehicle and drove away.

The victim searched for the vehicle and then called police.

A short time later, police located the suspect and the vehicle.

Charged with Take Motor Vehicle without Consent is Stanley DIBB (27) of Elliot Lake. DIBB is scheduled to appear in court in Elliot Lake July 8th, 2008.
