(Aweres Twp.) A 14 foot dark green Scott canoe was stolen from a residence on Old Mill Road in Aweres Township sometime within the last 3 days.

FIRE DESTROYS RESIDENCE IN RUPERT ACRES

(Aweres Twp.) At approximately 1:00 a.m. this morning Ontario Provincial Police and the Aweres Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a residence on Spruce Court in Rupert Acres Trailer Park in Aweres Township.

A neighbor who lived across the street observed flames in the roof area. The neighbor alerted the fire department, ran over to the residence, alerted the lone male occupant and assisted him out of the smoked filled residence.

The residence was a total loss. What wasn’t destroyed by fire suffered severe smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this point.

The investigation is continuing.

ASSAULT ON A MALE UNDER INVESTIGATION

(Batchewana First Nation, Ont.) Batchewana First Nation Police assisted by the Ontario Provincial Police responded to an assault complaint in the 2000 block of Mission Road on the Batchewana First Nation at approximately 2:30 a.m. this morning.

A 33 year old male was at the residence when an argument ensued with some of his relatives. It is alleged one of them punched him in the face and several others proceeded to punch and kick him with sticks and logs.

The male was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, treated and released.

The investigation is ongoing.

BREAK AND ENTER

(Iron Bridge, Ontario) On Wednesday May 14, 2008 the East Algoma Blind River OPP was contacted regarding a break and enter that occurred to a residence located on James Street, Iron Bridge, Ontario.

The break and enter occurred sometime between May 7 – 14, 2008. A water pump, water heater and pressure tank was taken in the break and enter.
