Early Morning Crash Results In Impaired Charges

Sault Ste Marie OPP were dispatched to a single motor vehicle rollover on Hwy # 17 in Echo Bay at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday morning the 25th of March. When police arrived, a witness to the crash advised he assisted two apparently intoxicated males out of the vehicle which had water running through it. The two men fled the scene. The driver of the vehicle was bleeding profusely from a cut to the head. Officer combed the area with the assistance of the OPP canine unit. The suspects were found shortly after 7:00 a.m. lying in a nearby field. The men appeared to be suffering from hypothermia and required assistance to get into the ambulance. The OPP supervisor at the scene stated that if the men had not been found when they were, they may have died of exposure. Charged with impaired driving , driving with a blood alcohol level over the legal limit and fail to remain at the scene of an accident is Frederick Michael Edge age 28 of 146 South Market Pl Sault Ste Marie. The passenger in the vehicle Damien Wayne Sharp age 22 of 1288 Government Rd Laird Township has had his parole revoked for alcohol consumption and has been returned to jail to complete his sentence.
