STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED; CHARGES LAID

(WAWA, On) – On March 22, 2010 at 3:55 pm Wawa MNR in Lake Superior Provincial Park reported a suspicious vehicle, a 1995 Plymouth Voyageur green bearing Michigan licence plates, in the ditch on Highway 17, Brimacombe Twp; at Trapper’s Trail approximately 54 kms south of Wawa. Investigation by Superior East OPP in Wawa at the scene revealed that obvious attempts had been made to steal the vehicle. A short time later a second vehicle, a 1992 Dodge Shadow bearing Ontario licence plates, parked at the Agawa Visitor Centre nearby was checked and the officers learned that it had been reported stolen from Sault Ste Marie, Ontario earlier in the day.
At approximately 9:55 pm the Wawa Police Service received a report of a vehicle stolen from Mission Road in Wawa. This vehicle was located abandoned just north of Wawa on Highway 17. Both police services along with the OPP K9 unit and Emergency Response members searched the area near Wawa and subsequently arrested a male subject. Investigation by both agencies have resulted in charges against Kelly STINSON age 33 of KINGSTON, Ontario. Possession of Stolen Property in relation to the incidents south of Wawa have been laid by OPP members.
The Wawa Police Service has laid additional charges as a result of their investigation.

FIRE DESTROYS MOBILE HOME IN BEAUMONT TRAILER PARK

Several Animals Perish In Fire

(Aweres Twp, ON) – A mobile home at 7 Kim Drive in Beaumont Trailer Park was completely destroyed by fire late yesterday afternoon at 5:00 pm.

OPP attended along with the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department, the Aweres Fire Department and an investigator from the Office of the Fire Marshall.

Several pets, including three dogs and cats perished in the fire. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. No foul play is suspected.

This morning at 6:45 am the OPP along with the Sault Ste. Marie Fire Department and the Aweres Fire Department had to re-attend the scene of the fire as it had re-started. All agencies are currently still at the scene.
