POLICE CHARGE THREE WITH POSSESSION & USE OF STOLEN CREDIT CARDS!

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) March 6th, 2009 police received a call to attend a residence on Westhill Road regarding a theft of a purse.

Police learned that the purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle between the evening of March 5th and the morning of March 6th, 2009. In the purse were several personal documents, currency and two (2) MasterCard credit cards.

Through investigation police learned that the credit cards had been used to purchase items in Elliot Lake, McKerrow and Espanola. Over $2,700.00 worth of merchandise was purchased with the stolen credit cars.

The three suspects were identified, located and arrested.

Charged is Chad Gerard BOYER (39) of Elliot Lake.

1 count of Possession of property obtained by crime

Also charged is Joe Jules Rene GODBOUT (30) of Elliot Lake.

Police also charged Paula McGREGOR (38) of Elliot Lake.

BOYER remains in custody while GODBOUT and MCGREGOR are scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on May 5th, 2009.

FIVE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISIONS REPORTED DURING YESTERDAY’S STORM

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) – Five motor vehicle collisions were reported to OPP within a two hour period late yesterday morning due to the storm front that moved through the Sault Ste. Marie area.

Four of those collisions occurred on Highway 17 East and Highway 17B while one occurred on Highway 17 North near Batchewana Bay.

Fortunately there were only some minor injuries and several of the involved vehicles had to be towed. All were due to blowing snow and zero visibility.

SNOWMOBILER CHARGED

(Grenoble Twp., ON) – Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Traffic and Marine Unit on snowmobile patrol yesterday stopped a driver who was not wearing a helmet. The driver also had open liquor in his possession.

Charged is 41 year old Kirk Parker of Mancelona Michigan. Mancelona is charged with Failing to Wear a Proper Helmet and Failing to produce evidence of insurance under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act. He is also charged with Having liquor in an open container in other than licensed premise, residence or private place contrary to the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario.
