(Snow Twp., Ont.) Ontario Provincial Police responded to a theft complaint on Ranger Lake yesterday morning.

Sometime during Sunday night the 1st of June numerous fishing rods, reels, tackle and a GPS system were stolen from 3 boats docked on Ranger Lake by Maple Cove cottages.

Also stolen from the outside a neighboring cottage was a Minolta 35 mm camera, a telescope and a Stihl chainsaw.

MALE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

(Aweres Twp., Ont.) OPP arrested and charged a 39 year old male from Aweres Township with two counts of Assault with a weapon after an incident which occurred early yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

It is alleged that the male assaulted two male youths, aged 14 and 15 years with a baseball bat.

Both youths received minor injuries.

The male was released with conditions for court on 30th June 2008.

The investigation is continuing.

BEAR SIGHTING

(Havilland Twp., Ont.) A tagged bear was spotted around 10:00 p.m. yesterday evening in the back yard of a homeowner on Irwin Island Road in Havilland Township.

OPP responded but the bear was gone upon Police arrival.
