LOCAL RESIDENT CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT (WAWA, ON) – On June 2, 2012 Superior East Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wawa Detachment began an investigation into a sexual assault that had occurred a week prior.

LOCAL RESIDENT CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT

(WAWA, ON) – On June 2, 2012 Superior East Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wawa Detachment began an investigation into a sexual assault that had occurred a week prior.  The assault was reported to have taken place at a residence in the town of Wawa.

On June 20, 2012 OPP executed an arrest warrant for 43 year old Joseph NEYLAND, of Michipicoten First Nation, ON.  The accused has been charged with one count of Sexual Assault and is scheduled to appear in Wawa Criminal Court on August 13, 2012.

BREAK IN TO WAWA RESTAURANT

(WAWA, ON) – Just before midnight on June 20, 2012 Superior East Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wawa Detachment were dispatched to a break in that had just occurred at the Columbia Restaurant on Broadway Ave in Wawa.  Witnesses report a male entered the restaurant through a smashed glass door on the side of the building.  The male then left the area in a tan coloured SUV.   Stolen from the restaurant were 3 bottles of liquor.

A Scenes of Crime Officer was called to assist with the investigation and is processing evidence collected.  OPP continue to investigate this matter.  Anyone with any information is requested to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
