R.I.D.E. SPOT CHECKS TAKES ANOTHER DRIVER OFF THE ROAD

(Goulais River, Ont.) A member of the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit was successful in finding another drinking driver on our roadway.

Last night at about 11:30 p.m. officers with the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit were conducting a spot check on Pine shores Road in Goulais River. A pick up truck entered the checkpoint and the officer observed indicators that the driver had been drinking.

A roadside test was conducted and the driver failed that test. He was returned to the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment where further testing confirmed that the driver was well over the legal limit.

Forty (40) year old Siegfried ALSCH of Bye’s Side Road in Goulais River has been charged with one count of Driving While Over the Legal Limit contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. In compliance with Ontario’s Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension Program, Mr. Alsch’s licence has been suspended for the next 90 days.
