COMMUNITY COOPERATION RESULTS IN CAPTURE OF WANTED CRIMINAL

(Heyden, Ont.) One man was taken into custody this afternoon after an all morning search of the Lower Island Lake area in Heyden.

This morning at about 5:00 a.m. a resident of the area reported suspicious activity around a seasonal home on Lower Island Lake. Officers responded to the call and found a stolen truck in the area and two houses that had been entered.

The investigation lead officers to another seasonal home where two people were living. Further investigation revealed that the male occupant of the camp was wanted by the Sault Ste Marie City Police Service. The City Police held a warrant for charges of Robbery, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Threatening.

Shortly before 1:00 p.m. the man surrendered to police. He was taken into custody and turned over to the Sault Ste Marie City Police. This investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected to be laid by Sault Ste Marie OPP. The accused has been identified as twenty three (23) year old Joshua WILSON of no fixed address.

Sault Ste Marie OPP would like to thank the residents of Lower Island Lake and Old Mill Road for their cooperation and assistance this morning. This was another example of the community and the police working together for the protection of our properties.
