Single Motor Vehicle collision closes Highway 129 North of Thessalon
On the 22nd of July 2010, shortly before 3:00 am, officers from the Thessalon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 129 north of Thessalon. The collision involved an overturned tractor trailer hauling a load of lumber.
Following the collision, the over turned tractor trailer caught fire and was completely destroyed. Highway 129 north of Thessalon was closed for approximately 2 hours and reopened to single lane, alternating traffic, at approximately 5:45 am today.
Crews continue to remove the vehicle and debris from the highway.
The driver of the involved tractor trailer sustained non-life threatening injuries. Ontario Provincial Police are continuing with the investigation of this incident.
