DRIVER ARRESTED FOR DRINKING AND DRIVING
(Garden River, ON) – On July 19, 2011 at 10:51 pm an OPP officer travelling westbound on the divided 4-lane section of Highway 17 East, observed an eastbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in excess of 160 km/hr in a 90 km/hr zone.

The officer lost site of the speeding vehicle and was attempting to catch up to it when he came upon a single vehicle accident on Highway 17 East in Garden River. As a result of the accident investigation 28 year old Wayne Wendle MCINNIS of Sudbury Ontario was charged with Driving a Motor Vehicle with a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) exceeding 80 milligrams, and driving while his licence was under suspension. The driver and female passenger received minor injuries in the accident.

OPP INVESTIGATING SUSPICIOUS FIRE
(Blind River, ON.) – On July 18, 2011 at 11:35 p.m. East Algoma OPP were called to a house fire at Unit #7, 141 Colonization road in Blind River. The Blind River fire department was able to extinguish the fire but the unit was totally destroyed. The unit was vacant with no tenants at the time of the fire. The dollar value for the damages is unknown at this time. The Ontario Fire Marshall has been called in and the fire is being treated as suspicious in nature. The investigation into this fire is continuing. Police are looking for potential witnesses to this fire and for anyone with information about this building.
