SPEEDING SNOWMOBILES
Goulais River, Ont.,

Another day of snow machine patrol by the Northeast Region Traffic and Marine Unit has produced yet another "high miler" on the trails.

Yesterday afternoon were running radar on the trails. One snow machine operator was clocked 131 km/h on the trail. The speed limit on the snow machine trails is 50km/h. The officers did get the driver stopped and if he is convicted of the charge he will face $110.00 fine.

Excessive speed, drinking and driving and darkness are the three major causes of snow machine fatalities in Ontario. If you lose control of your snow machine, hit another person on the trails or just fall off the machine at that speed, chances of you or anyone else surviving are slim at the best. One brief moment of careless on the trails may cost you or someone else a life.
