MAN REMANDED INTO CUSTODY (KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.

MAN REMANDED INTO CUSTODY

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.)Members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau Drug Enforcement Unit along with assistance of members of the Kirkland Lake OPP have charged a local man with two counts of Fail to comply with a Recognizance. The charges stem from the accused failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance. The accused was subsequently arrested at a residence located on Balsam Avenue in Kirkland Lake. The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. on August 14, 2013.

Charged is Jason CLOUTIER age 27 of Kirkland Lake. He was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.

LOCAL MALE IN BAIL COURT

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – August 12, 2013 the East Algoma OPP received a call of a possible assault on Charles Walk in Elliot Lake. 

Police spoke with the victim and learned that while he was walking on Charles Walk, he was allegedly assaulted by another male.  The victim and suspect were known to each other.

August 14, 2013 police located and arrested the suspect.

Charged with the following is Joseph Ronald NEWTON (53) of Elliot Lake.

  • Assault
  • Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie.

TRAFFIC STOP NETS SEVERAL CHARGES FOR A GOULAIS MALE

(Blind River, Ontario) – At approximately 10:55 p.m. August 14th, 2013 an officer of the East Algoma OPP was on patrol on highway 17 when he noted a vehicle passing vehicles and driving at a high rate of speed.  The officer conducted a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver, detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage.

Through investigation the driver has been charged with several offences.

Charged with the following is Curtis Anthony REBELLATO (28) of Goulais Township.

  • Exceed 80

Under the Highway Traffic Act charged with the following:

  • Driving While Under Suspension
  • Race a motor Vehicle

The accused was also charged with Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available under the Liquor License Act (LLA) and Fail to have Insurance Card under the Canadian Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

The accused is scheduled to appear in Blind River court on October 3, 2013.
