(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) The investigation into a single vehicle collision on July 12, 2008 involving an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) patrol vehicle has concluded.

Constable Kevin YUN, age 40 of the OPP Sault Ste. Marie Detachment has been charged with Disobey Stop Sign – Fail To Stop contrary to Section 136(1)(a) of the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

Provincial Constable YUN, an 11 year member of the OPP, was responding to a fight in progress call when he failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 17 and Pine Shores Drive, a T- intersection in Vankoughnet Township, 20 kilometres north of Sault Ste. Marie. The OPP patrol vehicle, which sustained extensive damage came to rest in the ditch on Highway 17.

The two officers in the vehicle were treated for minor injuries in hospital and released.
