MANITOULIN OPP INVESTIGATE MISCHIEF TO SEVERAL VEHICLES   

Ten Vehicles Severely Damaged

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) On Thursday April 04, 2013 at 7:55 am Manitoulin OPP received a report of damage done too many vehicles located at Highway 6 Service Centre located on Manitowaning Road in Little Current.

OPP arrived on scene and through their investigation discovered 10 vehicles parked in the rear of the service centre severely damaged. It appears that sometime over night the culprit(s) used rocks, bricks, as well as a steel pole to inflict the damage. Damage resulted in windows being smashed and the body of the vehicles being dented and scratched. Some of the vehicles were for scrap parts however others were customer vehicles left for repair. Also discovered an adjacent residential property had their wood plank fence damaged with planks and posts being damaged. The estimated cost of this vandalism is in the thousands of dollars.

Police are continuing the investigation and believe the crime occurred during the evening of Wednesday 03 April 2013. Police are asking the public if they have any knowledge of this crime or saw anything suspicious to call police. IMPAIRED DRIVER CHARGED

(WAWA, ON) Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wawa Detachment were conducting R.I.D.E. checks on Highway 17 in the McMurray Township.  Upon approaching a vehicle at the check, the investigating officer detected an odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the driver.  After failing a roadside breath test, the driver, 48-year-old Yvan HAMAN of Wawa was arrested and escorted to the OPP detachment for further breath tests.

As a result the accused stands charged with Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 mgs of Alcohol.  He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Wawa Criminal Court on May 13, 2013.

BREAK AND ENTER REPORTED ON WINSTON ROAD

(WAWA, ON) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wawa Detachment is currently investigating a break and enter to an apartment on Winston Road.  Sometime during the night time hours between March 23 and 24 the apartment was entered and several items were stolen.  These items include a chainsaw, digital camera, laptop computer, Rolex watch and an undisclosed amount of money.

An OPP Scenes of Crime Officer was called to the scene to collect evidence.  Several witnesses report a beige car in the area several times that night.  OPP continue to investigate at this time.  Anyone with any information is requested to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
