BALD EAGLE HIT BY TRUCK (Thessalon, ON.) – On Thursday April 16, 2009 shortly before 7:00 a.m. the East Algoma – Thessalon Detachment received a complaint of a motor vehicle collision involving a bald eagle.

(Thessalon, ON.) – On Thursday April 16, 2009 shortly before 7:00 a.m. the East Algoma – Thessalon Detachment received a complaint of a motor vehicle collision involving a bald eagle. The collision occurred approximately 10 kilometres east of Thessalon near Maple Ridge Road.

The truck involved was a 2009 Ford Pickup which sustained damage to the front grill. The driver was not hurt in the collision.

The bald eagle was badly hurt and had to be dispatched.

The Ministry of Natural Resources attended and retrieved the bald eagle.

“Update” - CHARGES LAID IN ROBBERY AT SCOTIA BANK

(Spanish, ON.) – On April 15, 2009 at approximately 10:45 a.m. the East Algoma OPP responded to a call of a Robbery at the Scotia Bank in Spanish, Ontario.

Jeremiah WELLS (45) of Spanish, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

Robbery with Firearm, Section 344(a)
Firearm – Use while committing offence, Section 85(1) (a)
Carry concealed weapon, Section 90
Possession of Firearm while Prohibited, Section 117.01(1)
Disguise with intent, Section 351(2)

WELLS appeared in bail court in Sault Ste. Marie today and has been remanded until Tuesday April 21, 2009.
