MALE CHARGED AFTER ASSAULTING POLICE (Elliot Lake, Ont.) On April 8th, 2007 police attended a local drinking establishment to assist the paramedics with an injured female.
MALE CHARGED AFTER ASSAULTING POLICE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On April 8th, 2007 police attended a local drinking establishment to assist the paramedics with an injured female. While on scene police were attempting to control the crowd gathered outside when a male became agitated and attempted several times to enter the ambulance. Police advised the suspect to stay away and it is at this time that the suspect allegedly assaulted a police officer.

Charged with Assault Police and Assault is Michael Orval DUNLOP (43) of Elliot Lake.

DUNLOP is scheduled to appear in court on June 5th, 2007.

VERBAL ARGUMENT TURNS UGLY

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) Police have arrested and charged a female with several charges after receiving a complaint of a possible assault.

On April 8th, 2007 the accused and the victim engaged in a verbal argument while at a local drinking establishment which lead to the assault. The victim received minor injuries, attended the hospital and was later released.

Charged with the following is Carla Briggette OCAMPO (25) of Sarnia, Ontario.

OCAMPO is scheduled to appear in court on June 5th, 2007.

TRAFFIC STOP COSTLY FOR DRIVER

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On April 7th, 2007 while on general patrol an officer of the East Algoma OPP observed a vehicle traveling at a slow speed on Highway 108. The vehicle was stopped and after speaking with the driver, the officer requested that the driver provide a sample of his breath into an approved screening device.

Charged with Failure to Provide Breath Sample is Johan MOSER (60) of Elliot Lake.

MOSER is scheduled to appear in court on May 29th, 2007.

COLLSION COMPLAINT LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGES

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On April 7th, 2007 at approximately 9:09 p.m. police received a complaint to attend Highway 108 near Depot Lake regarding a motor vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed that only one vehicle was involved in the incident and the driver was taken to the OPP detachment for further investigation.

Charged with the following is Guy DESMARAIS (28) of Spanish, Ontario.

Impaired Driving
Over 80
And Driving While Under Suspension

DESMARAIS is scheduled to appear in court on June 5th, 2007.


BOOZE , DOPE AND DRIVING

Heyden, Ont.,

Members of the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit, stationed at the Sault Ste Marie Detachment, found another person drinking and driving last night.

At about 10:00 p.m. last night officers stopped a pick up truck on Hwy 17 near Trout Lake Road in Heyden. The driver showed signs that he had been drinking. The driver was given a roadside test and he failed that test. He was returned to the police station where further testing confirmed the fact that he was over the legal limit of alcohol to be driving.

When the man was arrested officers found a small amount of marijuana in his pocket.
Thirty year old (30) Martin William MIRON of Hare Avenue in Sault Ste Marie has been charged with one count of Operate a Motor Vehicle While Over the Legal Limit contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He has also been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

In compliance with the Automatic Drivers Licence Suspension in Ontario, Mr. Miron’s licence has been automatically suspended for the next ninety days. He will appear in court on Monday 14 May 2007 to answer to his charges.


DEER AND TRANSPORT MEET ON HWY17—DEER LOST

Laird Twp, Ont.,

Officers with Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to Hwy 17 in Laird Township early this morning after a transport struck a deer.

At about 4:00 a.m. this morning a transport was traveling westbound on Hwy 17 near Pumpkin Point Road in Laird Twp. The transport struck a deer that was on the roadway. The deer eventually died of its injuries and the transport had minor damage.

The driver of the truck was not injured.
