Three face trafficking charges after speed stop (update: drug details)

OPP charge three adults for drug offences

NORTH SHORE TOWNSHIP – On December 23, 2016 shortly after 5 p.m., the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a vehicle stop for speeding on Highway 17, North Shore Township, Ontario.    

While speaking with the occupants, open alcohol was observed on the floor of the motor vehicle which led to further investigation and charges.

Police seized 27 grams of cocaine, 44 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of crack cocaine, 60 millilitres of methadone and $2900 in Canadian currency.  Estimated street value of the drugs is $12,000.      

J. Seamus Fyfe, 45 years of age, from Sault Ste.  Marie, ON, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drug, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – other drug, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1) Criminal Code and;

  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available, contrary to section 32(1) Liquor Licence Act and;

  • Fail to surrender insurance card, contrary to section 3(1) Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and;

  • Drive motor vehicle – no permit, contrary to section 7(1) Highway Traffic Act and;

  • Speeding, contrary to section 128 Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 28, 2016 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

Robert Keith Nadjiwon, 56 years of age, from Batchewana First Nation, ON was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drug, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Having liquor in open container in other than licenced premises, residence or private place, contrary to section 31(2) Liquor Licence Act

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on February 9, 2017.

Shayna Rene Nadjiwon, 23 years of age, from Batchewana First Nation, ON was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drug, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act and;

  • Fail to comply with recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) Criminal Code and;

  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) Criminal Code and;

  • Consuming liquor in other than licence premises, residence or private place, contrary to section 31(2) Liquor Licence Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on December 29, 2016 in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
