FATAL ACCIDENT NEAR WAWA
The O.P.P. reports a fatal accident on the Paint Lake Road near Wawa yesterday morning at 10:30.

Dead is 47-year-old Robert Adams of Elliot Lake.

An eastbound motor vehicle with 2 persons lost control, entered the ditch and rolled.

As a result 1 person was transported to Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa with non-life threatening injuries.

An O.P.P. technical traffic expert is conducting the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call the O.P.P.


SHOOTING DEATH
Iroquois Falls, Ontario

Officers from the Iroquois Falls OPP Detachment responded yesterday at 11:00 a.m. to an emergency call from a residence on Main Street.

Visitors to the home had discovered two people shot and called police. A 42-year-old female victim located in the residence was pronounced deceased at the scene by the coroner.

A 59-year-old male, also suffering from a gunshot wound, was transported to the Iroquois Falls Hospital. He has been transferred under guard to St. Joseph Hospital in Sudbury, where he remains in critical condition.

No names are being released at this time pending notification of the next of kin. A post mortem examination of the deceased female will be scheduled later this week.

The investigation is continuing by officers from the Iroquois Falls OPP, North East Region Crime Unit under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Mark Pritchard, Criminal Investigation Branch.
