HIGHWAY 17 REOPENED (Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) Highway 17, from Batchewana to Montreal River, has been reopened to traffic.
HIGHWAY 17 REOPENED

(Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) Highway 17, from Batchewana to Montreal River, has been reopened to traffic.

Bellevue Road between Hwy 552 and Hwy 556 still has a section that is flooded and though still open to traffic, people not living on that road are asked not to use it unless necessary.

Mile 38 Road is still in very poor condition and flooded in a section. This road is in very poor condition at present.

Due to the recent heavy rains, washouts and flooding have occurred on some of the sideroads in the area. Anyone traveling on sideroads in the area are asked to keep an eye out for such occurrences.

As of 06:30 am, 07 Oct 07 Wawa detachment of the OPP advise that the two suspects are in police custody.

Do not pick up hitch hikers

Members of the Superior East OPP Detachment in Wawa are currently investigating a theft of a motor vehicle. Two suspects are currently be sought by police.

The motoring public is being urged not to pick up any person on the highway.
