Possession Of Unmarked Cigarettes

Superior East OPP – On the 05 February 2011 at approximately 12:00 PM, members of the White River OPP Detachment had occasion to conduct a routine traffic stop on a motor vehicle travelling North Bound on Highway 17 in Alenen Township. A search of the motor vehicle resulted in the seizure a large quantity of illegal cigarettes with an estimated street value of approximately $200,000. The Ontario Provincial Police in conjunction with the Ministry of Revenue are continuing this investigation.

Bruce Douglas, 55 years of age of Stony Plain, Alberta is charged with Possession Of Unmarked Cigarettes contrary to section 29(1) of the Tobacco Tax Act.

The accused first appearance court is the 19th of May 2011 in Wawa, Ontario.
