Woman Charged With Attempted Murder
(Kirkland Lake, Ont.) – Members of the Kirkland Lake OPP along with the assistance of the South Porcupine OPP Forensic Identification Unit have charged a local woman with attempted murder. The charge stems from the stabbing of a 40 year-old man at a residence located on Second Street in Kirkland Lake.
The victim was transported to the Kirkland & District Hospital by ambulance where he was stabilized and subsequently transferred to St-Michaels Hospital in Toronto. The incident occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. on the 29th of August, 2009.
Charged is Kelly Marie Lazarra age 33 of Kirkland Lake. She was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for August 31, 2009 in Haileybury.

The Ontario Provincial Police advise the public that Hwy 17 near White River is open.
Location: Hwy 17 near White River was closed for a brief period of time due to a motor vehicle collision. Hwy 17 has reopened to traffic in both directions.
