THIS IMPARIED DRIVER WAS JUST A LITTLE OBVIOUS

Searchmont, Ont., A Sault Ste Marie woman has been charged with a drinking and driving offence after she was found passed out in her car.

Last night at about 11:30 p.m. officers from the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment were called to a car in the ditch on Hwy 556 just west of Searchmont. Officers arrived to find the two back wheels of the car suspended in the air. The female driver was still in the driver’s seat with the car still in gear. Officers noticed that she had vomited and was lying in her own vomit.

She was awakened by the officers to discover that the possible cause of her stomach illness may have been because she had been drinking.

Forty four (44) year old Pauline PAUZE, of 365 Second Avenue in Sault Ste Marie, has been charged with one count of Driving While Over the Legal Limit of .08 contrary to the Criminal Code. She will appear in court in September.

OFFICER NARROWLY MISSED BEING HIT BY DRUNK DRIVER

Garden River First Nation, Ont., An OPP officer with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment narrowly escaped being hit by another drunk driver this morning.

This morning at about 4:00 a.m. the officer was stopped on the shoulder of Hwy 17 in Garden River. The officer had just finished dealing with another unrelated matter when he was getting back into his cruiser. He looked in his rear view mirror to see another vehicle traveling on the shoulder, right at him, at high speeds.

The investigation has revealed that the offending vehicle was passing another vehicle on the gravel shoulder of the roadway. The officers floored his cruiser just fast enough to get out of the way of being rear ended by the car. The driver narrowly missed running into the back of the cruiser, then returned to the paved portion of the roadway and passed the marked police car. The car was quickly pulled over the officer determined that the driver had been drinking.

Eighteen year old Robert ROBINSON-PERREAULT of 23 Nebenaigoching Street, Batchewana First Nation faces five charges. He is charged under the Criminal Code with Impaired Driving and Driving While Over the Legal Limit of .08 . He was also charged with Drinking While Under Age and Having Open Liquor in a Vehicle contrary to the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario. The fifth charge is Driving With a Class G1 Licence With Blood/Alcohol Limit Above Zero.

Mr. Robinson-Perreault will start his court appearances on Sept 17 2007 in Sault Ste Marie.
