THUNDER BAY — A tractor-trailer driver from Alberta faces multiple charges after allegedly being caught speeding while using a hand-held communication device.

The incident happened on Highway 11/17 in the Municipality of Shuniah, where police observed a transport truck being driven at 117 km/h.

OPP posted a photo and details about the incident Wednesday, saying "Something's not right with this dashboard . . . Oh right, the handheld device with a video playing."

The photo shows a cellphone mounted behind the steering wheel in front of the instrument cluster.

Police charged a 57-year-old man from Edmonton with driving while using a handheld communication device, speeding, and driving a commercial motor vehicle not equipped with a working speed-limiting system.

None of the charges have been tested in court.
