Sault driver facing impaired, drug charges after arrest in Sudbury

Police say that a small quantity of suspected heroin was found during further investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police arrested a driver from the Sault on Monday following a report of a possible impaired driver in Sudbury.

The driver was stopped on Highway 17.

In a release, the OPP says officers spoke with the driver and concluded that the individual was "under the influence of a drug."

Further investigation led to officers seizing a small quantity of suspected heroin.

The driver, 32-year-old Jean-Paul Price of Sault Ste. Marie, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);
  • Dangerous operation, contrary to section 320.13(1) CC;
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance - heroin, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
