A Cambridge man is facing charges after witnesses reported a passenger tried to jump from his moving vehicle on Dec. 6.
At approximately 1 p.m. that day, the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) “received a traffic complaint about a passenger attempting to jump out of a moving vehicle on Highway 17 in the Sables-Spanish Rivers Township,” OPP said in a news release.
Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and further investigation led to the driver being arrested for impaired operation.
The driver, a 30-year-old from Cambridge, is charged with:
- Refusal to comply with demand
- Dangerous operation
- Resist peace officer
The man’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Jan. 6, 2025.
