Owner charged after dogs injure neighbour's dog

Police say the owner allowed their dogs to leave their property and enter a nearby property, where they attacked that property owner's dog

A 45-year-old from Batchawana Bay faces charges stemming from an incident that involved their dogs.

In a news release issued today, Sault Ste. Marie OPP say on Jan. 24 at around 10:38 a.m., officers responded to an animal bite complaint on Corbeil Point Road in Batchawana Bay.       

Upon investigation, police say they determined the owner allowed their dogs to leave their property and enter a nearby property, where they attacked that property owner's dog.

As a result, the owner was charged with:

  • owner failing to prevent dog from biting, attacking a domestic animal

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 19 in Sault Ste. Marie.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
