Jan. 6, 2025 update
The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that one person was arrested on Dec. 18 as a result of the warrant executed on Rossmore Road.
Franco Pileggi, 41, of Sault Ste. Marie, was arrested and charged with three counts of failure to comply with a release order. The accused was held for a bail hearing, and subsequently released by the Ontario Court of Justice, the OPP said.
In September, 2024, Pileggi was charged with luring a child for the purposes of child pornography and other related charges.
On March 21, police received a report of a child being lured by an adult via a social media app. An investigation revealed the suspect, who lives in Sault Ste. Marie, pretended to be a teacher in their 20s living in the Wasaga Beach area.
Police said Pileggi threatened a child from Clearview Township into sending intimate images of themselves online.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Pileggi is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
