One accused of assault following Blind River face punch

A 61-year-old from Blind River has been charged following a physical altercation on Saturday evening.

On July 6, shortly after 7 p.m., officers with the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex on Woodward Avenue in Blind River.

Police say that an investigation revealed that the tenant and complainant had been drinking when an altercation happened. Police added that the altercation resulted in the complainant being punched in the face.

As a result of the incident and subsequent investigation, Raymond Lendrum was charged with assault.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Aug. 8.

The allegation has not been tested in court and Lendrum is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
