THESSALON – Police say a man has been charged after a disagreement between neighbours in which one person allegedly wielded a tire iron.
East Algoma OPP say they were called to a neighbour dispute at a residential property on Federation Street in Thessalon on Thursday at around 4:30 p.m.
Police said the complainant reported that a neighbour attended their property "and threatened to kill them with a tire iron in hand".
Police later learned the person alleged to have been holding the tire iron was on probation with release conditions, according to an OPP news release.
James Hembruff, 38, of Thessalon was arrested and charged with:
- Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Fail to comply with probation order
The accused was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Sault Ste. Marie on April 12.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Hembruff is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
