Multiple crashes in Wawa lead to stolen vehicle charges

A Thunder Bay driver has been charged with stealing a vehicle among other charges after a report of a stolen truck and trailer in Wawa.

Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police received the initial report of the stolen vehicle and several more calls regarding a truck and trailer crashing into a residence.

Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police arrived on scene and arrested the driver.

Police say an investigation revealed that another house as well as a hydro pole had been hit on the same street. 

The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Glenn Campbell, 40, has been charged with:

  • theft of a motor vehicle
  • dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • theft over $5,000
  • mischief over $5,000 - three counts
  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • take motor vehicle without consent
  • careless driving - three counts
  • driving under suspension - three counts
  • drive motor vehicle with no licence

The accused was held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Sault Ste Marie Bail Court on Nov. 21.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Campbell is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
