STOLEN ATV (Laird Twp., ON) An ATV was reported stolen in Laird Township sometime between late afternoon on Friday the 5th to mid afternoon on the 6th of Sept. 2008. The ATV was parked at the end of Riley Road.

(Laird Twp., ON) An ATV was reported stolen in Laird Township sometime between late afternoon on Friday the 5th to mid afternoon on the 6th of Sept. 2008.

The ATV was parked at the end of Riley Road. The ATV is described as a 1998 Yamaha 200cc Blaster with a black frame and a blue tank.

Theft from Searchmont Fire and Rescue Building

(Searchmont, ON) The Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment is seeking information to assist in the investigation of a theft that occurred at the Fire Hall in Searchmont.

Sometime during the month of August, 2008, prior to the 28th of August, two pieces of equipment were removed from the Fire Hall in Searchmont, located on the corner of Highway 532 and Whitman Dam Road.

It is unknown at this time if the culprit had access to the building or entered it at some time when a door may have been open for some reason. The two articles stolen were a Stihl CutQuik saw for cutting concrete and a Stihl Emergency saw. The value of the two saws combined is over $2500. The CutQuik saw was located on the floor of the fire hall while the chain saw had been in one of the emergency vehicles.

Both these pieces of equipment are vital and used in such occurrences as cutting an injured person from a vehicle and in fighting fires.
