(Laird Twp., ON) Late Friday evening in the 600 block of Government Road person(s) unknown damaged fence posts and gates allowing horses to escape from the fenced in area.

Once the horses escaped, they caused damage to the neighbouring lawns and also pose a traffic hazard.

This is has occurred several times in past.

SINGLE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION REPORTED

Fenwick Twp., ON)On Saturday September 8, 2012 at approximately 2:58 am OPP and Goulais River First Response were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 North at the Goulais River Bridge.

A 3 tonne moving van collided with the back end of a Caterpillar grader.

The male driver, who received minor injuries, exhibited obvious signs of impairment.

Twenty-seven year old Andrew David BUCK of Glen Morris Road West, Brant, Ontario was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.  

The accused was released on a Promise To Appear for Provincial Court on 01 October, 2012.  

The van was demolished.

DRIVER TURNS LEFT IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC ON A RED LIGHT

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON)On Sunday, September 9, 2012 at approximately 4:05 pm an OPP officer was stopped for a red light at the intersection of Great Northern Road and North Street, traveling eastbound.

A female driver of a red pick up truck also approached the intersection and came to a stop in the left turn lane beside the OPP cruiser.

The officer noted that the driver did not signal her intention to make left turn. 

While the traffic light facing eastbound and westbound traffic was solid red, the driver of the pick up truck arbitrarily pulled into the intersection and made a left hand turn directly in front of an oncoming northbound vehicle, narrowly avoiding a collision.

The vehicle was pulled over and stopped.

Further investigation revealed that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

Sixty-eight year old Amelia SICOLI of Cabot Crescent, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged with Failing To Provide a Breath Sample, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for Provincial Court in Sault Ste. Marie on 01 October 2012.

THREE MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISIONS INVOLVING ANIMALS

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON)Three motor vehicle collisions involving deer were reported over the weekend.

Two occurred on Highway 17 East and one on Highway 17 North between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

No injuries to any occupants were reported.

The vehicles received minor damage and were not towed.

OPP remind drivers that with fall approaching, wildlife will be on the move due to the mating season.

Slow down and drive cautiously through areas identified as high risk by wildlife crossing signs.

MISSING A SEA-DOO COVER?
