TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO SEVERAL CHARGES

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On the 1st of October 2009 at approximately 11:18 p.m. while on general patrol, officers observed a vehicle almost striking the curb on Mississauga Avenue In Elliot Lake.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and through investigation the following youth were charged.

Charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams is 17-year-old male of Elliot Lake. Also charged with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams is a 16-year-old of male of Elliot Lake. Police also charged another 16-year-old male with Possession of Cannabis Marihuana – under 30 grams and Failure to comply.

All youths are scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on December 1st, 2009.

The names of the accused will not be released under the jurisdiction of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.


AIR PURIFIER STOLEN FROM RESIDENCE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) October 2, 2009 police received a call to attend a residence on Hutchison Avenue regarding a possible Break Enter and Theft.

On scene police learned that sometime between 9:45 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. unknown person(s) entered the residence through a door and removed a Merola Air, air purifier of a value of $2,400.00. Nothing else was missing from the residence at the time of the report.

COMPLAINT NETS LOCAL MALE SEVERAL CHARGES

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 6:18 p.m. police received a complaint of a fight in progress in the area of 77 Spruce Avenue.

On scene police learned that a male party had attended a residence on Spruce Avenue and shortly afterwards was told to leave. Allegedly a physical confrontation ensued and police were called. The male in question spoke with police and left the area without incident.

A short time later, police received a call to attend the area of Brunswick Walk regarding the male in question was smashing items in an apartment and was in possession of a weapon, which was described as an axe.

The male was located, arrested and charged. Charged with the following is Raymond Michael O’CONNELL (42) of Elliot Lake.

Mischief Under $5,000
Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

O’CONNELL is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on December 1st, 2009.

UNWANTED PERSON COMPLAINT NETS MISCHIEF CHARGE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) Officers of the East Algoma OPP on October 2, 2009 attended a residence on Lakeview Crescent in Elliot Lake regarding an unwanted person.

On scene police learned that the person had left the area and had allegedly broken a window prior to leaving. The suspect was located and arrested by police.

Charged with Mischief under $5,000 is Larry Joseph LAVIGNE (46) of Elliot Lake. LAVIGNE is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on December 1st, 2009.
