Single Motor Vehicle Collision, Three Injuries

(Wawa) – On October 17, 2009 at 8:05 am a southbound Chevrolet Silverado lost control on Highway 17, 5 kilometres north of Tremblay Road. The vehicle entered the west shoulder, struck a rock cut and rolling over coming to rest on the southbound lane. The Wawa Volunteer Fire Department attended the scene and extricated the three occupants from the vehicle. The male driver and a male and female passenger, all from WOODBRIDGE, Ontario were taken to The Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Damage to the vehicle was extensive. No charges are expected as a result of this incident. Highway 17 was closed to one lane for a short time while the vehicle was removed.

Single Motor Vehicle Collision, One Injury

(White River) – On October 17, 2009 at 8:15 am a southbound Sunfire lost control and crossed the northbound lane rolling over three times in the northbound ditch. There were three occupants in the vehicle and one female passenger sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. She was taken to Hospital in Wawa for treatment and released. The male driver and a male passenger were not injured. All the occupants are from BARRIE, Ontario. The driver, Charles DAVIES, age 64 of BARRIE, Ontario stands charged with “Fail to Drive in Marked Lane” contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

Tractor Trailer Rolls North of Wawa

(Wawa) – On October 17, 2009 at 4 pm Superior East officers attended at Highway 17 approximately 12 Kilometres north of Wawa in Menzies Township to investigate a single vehicle rollover. A northbound Tractor Trailer unit, hauling pumpkins, lost control and as a result rolled over into the northbound ditch. The Wawa Fire Volunteer Fire Department attended the scene to extricate the lone male driver. He was escorted to hospital in Wawa by Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Je WOO age 46 yrs of CAMBRIDGE, Ontario has been charged with “Careless Driving” contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act. Damage to the Tractor Trailer was extensive. The vehicle will be removed from the ditch on October 19, 2009 during the day and motorists can expect short delays while the tractor and trailer are towed.

DRIVER AND PASSENGER INJURED IN ROLLOVER

(Hughes Twp., ON) – On Saturday, October 14th, 2009 at approximately 2:00 p.m. a Black Ford pick up truck with a driver and passenger were travelling westbound on Highway 556 near Ranger Lake.

The driver observed a dark coloured truck pulling a trailer with a 4-wheeler approach them travelling eastbound.

The driver had to take evasive action and turn out to the right to avoid a head on collision with the unknown truck and trailer that was travelling over the centre line in their lane.

The driver of the Ford pick up caught the soft shoulder of the roadway and was pulled into a rock face.

The driver of the other vehicle did not stop.

The 57 year old male driver and 87 year old male passenger were transported to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

The truck was demolished.

TWO CAMP ENTERED

(Slater Twp., ON) – A cottage on Theano Point Road in Slater Township was broken into sometime in the last month.

A lock on the storage shed was forced open and items were removed from the shed.

Stolen items included a back Mercury 10 hp motor, a Yamaha 10 hp motor, a grey plastic tool box containing various hand tools, a 20 litre gas can (full), a Master craft electric drill, 1 long handle axe, one short handle axe.

(Aweres Twp., ON) – Within the last month suspect(s) unknown cut three locks off of three outbuildings located in the 200 block of Maki Lake Road in Aweres Township.

A Poulan chainsaw was stolen.

THEFT FROM VEHICLE

(Aweres Twp., ON) – An unlocked vehicle was entered overnight on Saturday 17th October, 2009 in the 1000 block of Highway 556 in Aweres Township.

Stolen items included a satellite radio, cell phone, skates, and a GPS holder.
