STOLEN PROPERTY RECOVERED

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) On November 23, 2012 at approximately 2:00 pm an OPP officer on patrol observed a small red dirt bike travelling northbound on Old Goulais Bay Road with two riders on it and no licence plate on the dirt bike.

A vehicle stop was conducted and information revealed the dirt bike and a Polaris ATV had been stolen in August of 2011 from a residence in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, 

As a result of Police investigation, two local males (who were 17 years of age at the time of the offence) have been arrested and charged with two counts each of theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal code of Canada.

They were both released on a Promise to Appear for court on January 14, 2013.

Twenty-two year old James McLEOD of Second Line, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was also arrested and charged with two counts of theft under $5000 and one count of break and enter, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for court on January 14, 2013.

OPP RESPOND TO DOMESTIC INCIDENT

(Fenwick Township)On November 23rd, 2012 at approximately 10:40 pm Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a domestic disturbance in progress in Fenwick Township.

As a result of police investigation, a thirty two year old male was arrested and charged with the following:  six counts of Assault, one count of Forcible Confinement, one count of Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm, one count of Mischief Under $5000 and one count of Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

A thirty-four year old female was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and later released.

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing today.

SEVEN MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISIONS REPORTED OVER THE WEEKEND

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) - OPP responded to seven motor vehicle collisions locally over the first snowy weekend of the winter season.

Two collisions involved wildlife on the highway and five were weather related.

There were no injuries reported.

OPP remind motorists with winter officially here, driver’s need to stay alert, slow down and stay in control.  Drive according to highway and weather conditions.  Keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you to avoid situations where you may have to brake suddenly on a slippery surface.
