MINOR INJURES IN EARLY MORNING CRASH

(Montreal River, Ont.)One man was taken to Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa over the weekend after a crash on Hwy 17 just south of Montreal River.

At about 5:00 a.m. on Sunday morning a mini van was traveling northbound on Hwy 17 about 2 kms south of Montreal River.

For reasons that the driver was unable to explain, his van left the roadway, flipped onto its roof and slid off the roadway and into the ditch. The van then struck an utility pole and came to rest upside down.

A passing motorist picked the driver up and took him to Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa. The driver was treated for minor injuries and released.

Sixty-nine-year-old Vernon Finley of Niagara Falls Ontario has been charged with Failing to Drive in Marked Lane contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

DEER VAN CRASH INJURES ONE

(Goulais River, Ont) One person was injured over the weekend after another crash involving large animals on the highway.

On Sunday night at about 8:30 p.m. a mini van was traveling southbound on Hwy 17 in the area of the Blue Berry Hill Campground between the bottom of Mile Hill and Pineshores Road in Goulais River.

The driver of the mini van struck a deer on the roadway. The driver was treated at the scene by ambulance attendants for minor injuries caused by broken glass. He did not need to attend the hospital.

The deer was killed by the collision and the van had to be towed from the scene.

WOMAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING PARTNER


On Sunday morning at about 1:00 a.m. police were called to a home in Goulais River after a man reported being assault by his female partner.

It is reported that the man was asleep at home when his spouse came into the house and started to argue with him.

The man went to a different area of the home and he was assaulted several times by the woman. No one required medical treatment.

A forty one year old woman was taken into custody for the night. She has been charged with one count of assault. She is scheduled to appear in court on July 18 2007.
