Several Cows Injured and Killed in Early Morning Crash

(Sudbury, Ontario) A tractor-trailer on the Southwest By-Pass between Long Lake Road and South View Rd left the roadway shortly after 3:00 a.m. this morning, injuring the driver and most of the 38 cows being transported.

OPP officers and Sudbury Regional Police are on the scene awaiting the arrival of a veterinarian. The driver received serious injuries and was suffering from shock.

He was taken to St. Joseph Health Centre by ambulance.

It is anticipated that most of the 38 cows that were being transported will be euthanized.

Officers at the scene report that the highway is not blocked, nor is traffic interrupted.
