STUNT DRIVER CHARGED
(WAWA, ON.) – On May 11, 2011 10:19 am Superior East OPP in Wawa were patrolling northbound on Highway 17 north of Wawa near Catfish Creek. A southbound Dodge Pickup bearing Ontario licence plates was noted travelling at a high rate of speed and locked in on RADAR at 147 kph in a posted 90 kph zone. The vehicle was stopped and the lone male driver was advised of the infraction. As a result Shannon KONVAITIS age 37 of HAMILTON, Ontario stands charged with “Stunt Driving” contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. His Ontario Driver’s Licence was seized for 7 days. The vehicle he was operating was also seized for 7 days. The accused will appear in Wawa Traffic Court on July 21, 2011 to answer to the charge.

DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES AGAINST TWO MALES
Marihuana, Magic Mushroom, Ecstasy seized
(WHITE RIVER, ON.) – On May 9, 2011 at 9:25 pm Superior East OPP in White River were patrolling on Highway 17 in Abraham Township just south of White River. A northbound motor vehicle was noted travelling at a high rate of speed and subsequently stopped for that offence.

Upon approaching the vehicle officers noted two male subjects in the vehicle and detected an odour of Cannabis. As a result of a consent search officers located a quantity of Cannabis Marihuana along with Magic Mushrooms each weighing over 30 grams. Also located was a quantity of Ketimine (Special K-Meth) and a small quantity of Ecstasy.

As a result of investigation [charges withdrawn] age 20 of BURLINGTON, Ontario stands charged with four counts of Possession of Controlled Substance contrary to The Controlled Drug and Substance Act as well as 1 charge of Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code. [Charges withdrawn] age 21 of SALT SPRING ISLAND, B.C. stands charged with 4 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance.

Both will appear in Wawa Criminal Court on July 11, 2011. Estimated value of Controlled Substances seized was $2000.
